Extol, after joining forces with what was Ganglion, has lost it's distinct sound. They have gone away from the technically
infused death metal of Burial and Undecieved, or the technical thrash of Synergy. Now, they are an unique hardcore band, with
some metal roots.
Instead of having Ganglion influences accent the Extol sound, they did the reverse, and had Extol accent Ganglion. Now, this
album is different from Ganglion's Stripped EP, but follows the same style defined there. It's melodic metalcore, with a good
amount of clean vocals, with harsh screeches to add variety.
As for sentencing, I charge them with false representation, as this should be labelled a Ganglion cd, as even the bonus track
is\was a Ganglion song. I also charge the label with the same charge, as their press release compares moments of this cd with
Pink Floyd, and no such moments that such a comparision could be made exist. But, even with all of this, I have to admit that
this cd is more listenable than Synergy, and does not seem to have the filler songs that Undecieved had.
