Symphorce have had a good following since their debut, and keeps on putting out what they are loved for doing. They deliver
Power Metal, with a vocalist that not only holds his own, but that is not a blatant attempt at being Rob Halford or Bruce
Dickenson.
When I got this disc to review with the other Metal Blade albums, I put this one off to the side, not rushing to unlock
the sound that it held inside. Power Metal is not my favorite genre, as it tends to lack the aggression that I love, and ooze
with cheese, which I detest. Well, sometimes. But, after listening to the rest, I put this one in.
I am not quite sure if this is a concept album, or what that really means, but it was apparent from the first listen that
this disc was a cohesive whole. It does not feel like it is a collection of songs thrown together, and called an album. Now,
the problem with this is that you don't get one song stuck in your head, you get pretty much the whole album.
It's full of hooks in both the vocals and the guitar work. It's not out to beat any speed records, or keep up with Rhapsody.
This is a very good thing, as it helps itself stand out from the rest in this aspect. It's not a boring, plodding album. It
has a pace that is moving quickly, but just isn't trying to be Brodequin.
Therefore, my ruling stands as follows: Symphorce need to change their name, and the little puns on their name that they
have used in the past. I have a hard time taking a band serious that has a ridiculus name.
