As I entered this show, I knew something would be different. First off, it was a small venue, with a small crowd. This
meant that it would be a more of an intimate setting which works for a pair of in your face bands.
Immolation took the stage first, and really made me appriciate their sound and style. They played an extended set due
to the cancellation on the part of the other two supporting acts. Although this meant that their were more breaks in the set
for tuning, drinking, and catching their breath, the few minutes of silence were well made up in the extra minutes of brutality
pouring forth from the stage.
After Immolation, Exodus stormed the stage. They expertly played songs from their whole catalog, with a focus on material
from their latest release. Although the vocals meant a different twist on old favorites, the crowd seemed not to notice. And
added bonus was Gary Holt showcasing his skills in some melodic wankering between songs, which one did not expect to hear.
The only problem with this show was the immaturity of the crowd. During Exodus, not only was a beer bottle thrown on
stage by a drunk teenager, but Gary Holt was almost pulled off stage by other fans. This seems to drag the reputation of other
metal lovers down, and make venues not enjoy inviting metal bands back. Therefore, my judgment is against the fans. There
needs to be more thinking, and less stupidity.
